Answers to the Questions I Hear Most Often

What should I know and do before my first visit?

During your first session:

• Intake forms will be reviewed.

• Privacy and confidentiality will be discussed.

• You’ll be asked questions about the presenting concern and relevant history.

• We’ll explore your goals, treatment options, and address any questions or concerns you may have.

Where are your offices located?

My office is located in the Acadia Business Centre at 3337 B – 8th Street East in Saskatoon (near the corner of 8th Street and Acadia drive across from the Circle and Centre mall).

There is free parking available on the west and south sides of the building.

When you arrive:

• Enter the building and head upstairs.

• Please have a seat in the waiting room.

• I will come to meet you at the time of your appointment.

Washrooms are located at the end of the hall.

Do I need a referral from a doctor to receive counselling or assessment services?

No, a referral is not required to see a psychologist.

However, some insurance plans may require a referral in order to reimburse costs—please check your individual plan for details.

Are psychologist fees covered by Saskatchewan Health Care?

Services provided by psychologists in private practice are not covered by Saskatchewan Health Care.

However:

• You may claim psychological service fees as health expenses on your federal and provincial taxes.

• Many extended health care plans and health spending accounts offer coverage for psychological services.

Clients are responsible for payment and then submit receipts to their insurance provider for reimbursement.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

I require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a session.

Without proper notice, the full session fee will be charged.

Do you offer direct billing?

At this time, I do not offer direct billing.

Clients pay at the time of their session and submit their receipts for reimbursement if eligible under their insurance plan.

How can I pay for my session?

I accept cashe-transfer, or cheque.

A receipt will be issued at the time of payment for your records and insurance purposes.

Do you offer assessments for ADHD, autism, or learning disabilities?
